OUR MISSION

The mission of Marsh Sanctuary is to provide a place for outdoor recreation and engagement with our natural landscape while safeguarding its biodiversity, protecting wildlife, conserving our historic buildings, inspiring the arts, and fostering environmental stewardship.

OUR GOALS

Conservation

We are committed to preserving the 156 acres of open space in perpetuity and protecting the Sanctuary’s wildlife, and its natural and historic beauty for public use and enjoyment.

Biodiversity

Re-establish a more diverse community of native plants and curb invasive species for the long-term sustainability of our open land, pond, and stream. Sustain and encourage habitat for diverse species of wildlife and insects.

Preservation & Restoration

Preserve, restore, and protect the Sanctuary buildings: Meadowside Cottage, Meadowside house and stable, Brookside Cottage, and Amphitheater.  Create a vision to restore and repurpose the Meadowside stable and house.

Recreation

We are a sanctuary for people as well as wildlife and offer a beautiful open space for photography, bird watching, picnicking, snowshoeing, plein air painting, and a leisurely stroll or energetic walk around Cook’s Pond and through the meadows and woods.

Education

Home to a number of different habitats, the Sanctuary is an outdoor laboratory and an educational resource for the study of the natural world.
